I'm super excited to get started with this school year! I had so much fun over the summer, but I was also super busy so I'm ready to switch gears.
Summer Swim Coaching
I started off the summer with being and Assistant Coach for the Ada Alligators Summer Swim Team. I was primarily tasked with teaching proper techniques and building endurance with less advanced swimmers. Even so, each coach got the chance to work with all different ages and skill levels which taught me a lot about my coaching style. There were some challenges, especially since both of my younger siblings were on the team and my mom was my boss. I think in the end though we all learned to separate the sport from our lives at home and we had a good time.
Bonus! I got to coach Dr. Aggie's kids which was a lot of fun! They did always feel like they needed to know what the whole practice was ahead of time but they're great swimmers and did an amazing job at champs.
Summer Internship
In addition to being a swim coach I also got the opportunity to complete my first internship with the Van Wert County Foundation. I worked under their Marketing Director Joe Dunay as the Social Media Marketing and Public Relations Intern.
I learned a lot about capturing a brand voice, social media strategy, writing an informational blog and working in a professional environment. Even though there were times where it felt like a baptism by fire, I'm still grateful that the Van Wert County Foundation is where I got to start my professional journey.
Vacation
I haven't been on vacation for a couple of summers so I'm really glad that I got to visit Texas and New Mexico with my boyfriend, Evan.
In Texas, we visited his dad's side of the family and I got to meet his Grandma B. Pro tip, if you're driving in El Paso it takes at least 30 minutes to get anywhere.
For the second half of our trip we went to Silver City, New Mexico to see his mom. While we were there we went to hot springs and went on some hikes in the mountains.
Overall, my summer was amazing and I can't wait to see what adventures the school year brings.
