Off to a Good Start

The first two weeks of class have flown by, and I feel like I've barely had time to catch my breath. There's been happy and sad moments while I've been back on campus, but I can truly say I'm glad to be back.

The first couple of days of classes were great and I appreciated the professors that let their syllabus day be just that. My accounting professor did not, and the class is slowly starting to make me more nervous. There's a lot of information coming at me at once and I have never been surer I couldn't be an accounting major. One thing that I do always go back to though is choir and this year I'm a member of Chamber Singers again. I'm happy that I have a music outlet but I'm still not sure how I feel about the director. He's very particular on how he wants everything to run and I'm nervous to see what happens when something doesn't go his way.

On Tuesday, I got the amazing news that I'm a member of the PRoud Council! The PRoud Council is a PRSSA National subcommittee under the Vice President of BEDI. I'm super excited for this opportunity and I'm looking forward to working on some amazing projects. I'm also hopeful that I can use this as an opportunity to put me in a good position to run for the VP of BEDI at the end of this year.

I've got a couple more things to do tomorrow before I can settle into the weekend including our first WSO executive meeting and BizBash. WSO is preparing for the Multicultural Fair and while I could be more hands on with it, I'm choosing to stick to my job for the sake of my own sanity. After our meeting is BizBash which I'm excited for because I didn't get to go last year.

Ending on a sadder note, last week my Papa Emerick passed away. Even though it's hard to accept the fact he's gone, it was his time, and he got to pass the way he would have wanted. The viewing and funeral are on Saturday and I'm looking forward to being surrounded by people that I love and celebrating his life with them.

  1. I have never heard of PRoud Council before! Congratulations! That sounds like a great opportunity, and is extra exciting because its something you enjoy so much! I cant wait to hopefully read more about that throughout the semester. I am super curious to what this entails.

  2. I am so happy that you found out about your National Subcommittee position! I was sick of not being able to tell you, especially because I have known since literally three weeks ago! I am so glad that you are having a good start to your year!
