This weekend, I took part in some of the Homecoming activities and actually had fun. On Friday, I sang in the Homecoming concert and went to the Affinity Glow Party. Then on Saturday, I walked with the Lima Complex residence life staff in the parade and worked the activities tent for PRSSA.
First was the concert and it went really well. We were all a little nervous because we only had a month to put together all of the repertoire, but all of the songs ended up sounding great. My parents, my sister and two of my grandparents were able to make it and they all enjoyed the concert. For the people unable to make it there was a livestream link. I was able to watch the concert from the link the next day and the sound came through really well. Our next concert isn't until December so luckily, we'll have more time to prepare everything. At this concert, not only are we performing with the orchestra but we're also presenting a new song. We don't know what the song is yet, but our director is good friends with a composer, and it just worked out, so we get to perform one of his pieces for the first time ever.
Immediately after the concert I had to run and get changed so I could go to the Affinity Glow Party. This was essentially an informal Homecoming dance, and I had a great time. As a RA I was required to work the event, but I signed up to socialize so I basically got to dance and eat instead of anything important. I was there for the last hour of the dance, and everyone there genuinely seemed to be having a good time. The only bad thing about the event was the person who was screaming into the microphone for the last 15-20 minutes. She started off okay and was just hyping everyone up but eventually it got too loud and annoying.
The next day I had to wake up bright and early to be at the Ada High School by 9:30 a.m. to walk with Residence Life in the parade. Which was ridiculously early considering the parade didn't start until 10:30. Luckily, the weather was nice, and someone brought a speaker, so we just listened to music and talked while we waited. The parade didn't take too long, and we ended at the main entrance to campus, so I was able to walk straight back to my dorm and cool off for a little bit. Then, I went and worked the activities tent for PRSSA for a little bit. The 30 minutes I was there really felt like nothing. After I was done, I spent the rest of the weekend cleaning and doing homework.
Overall, I had a great weekend and an uneventful week which has been such a blessing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing crazy happens before ICON and I can get some stuff off of my laundry list before we leave.

You were amazing at the choir concert! Love seeing other people share art. You have a beautiful voice. Such a great time, I am glad I went :)
