Week 7 - Halfway Done

I' m normally busy but this week I've had random meetings pop up which has absolutely bogged down my schedule. On top of my commitments, I've been packing and preparing for ICON! I know I've brought this us every week, but I am so excited to go! I'm almost done packing but honest to God I wear the same five outfits so I just need to run some laundry before I can finish packing.

Dr. Aggie, Grace and I are flying out of the Detroit airport around 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning. This means that Grace and I need to leave Ada around 2 a.m. to pick up Dr. Aggie and drive to Detroit. I'm a little nervous to drive so early in the morning/late at night but I've worked it out so I'll still get plenty of sleep. Friday night, I'm going to stay up until about three or four in the morning, sleep for a little bit and get back out of bed at around eight. I have a couple of things I need to do on Saturday, so I'll have some motivation to get out of bed after only four hours of sleep. Then, fingers crossed, I'll be tired enough to go to bed around 5 p.m. which will give me about seven hours of sleep before I need to wake up at midnight. Then I'll have about an hour to an hour and a half before I need to load up my car and head out. My plan is to drink a Celsius on the way for good measure.

Grace has never flown before, but she seems really excited so I'm not too nervous about how she'll react to flying. I know that I get anxious when the plane hits turbulence, but she doesn't need to know. My favorite part of flying is when the plane is driving to the runway. It feels like I'm in an oversized bus and the thought is just funny to me.

The one thing I am really nervous about it being jet lagged after we get back. We're coming back Thursday night and not only will we be getting back around one on Friday morning, but I'll also be on California time. I'll still have to get up and go to class as well as meetings and commitments both Friday and Saturday. I will be locking myself in my room and not talking to anyone on Sunday.

  1. Hope ICON is just as fun as you are hoping! I hope everything went smoothly with traveling and you will be well rested for the trip as well as when you return. I've only flown on two trips in my whole life and personally, I don't enjoy the take off! But once I am in the air, all my nerves are gone. Have fun in California!
